That's not neccesarily true. Early in the game it works just fine, the problem is people don't adapt later and stop using it where enemies strip it.

It is a waste of a skill slot on everything apart from a solo farmer (e.g. 55 monk) I'm sure 99.9% people will agree with me.

Watchful Spirit would be a better choice, since it gives +2 without any attribute investment.

i'm not surprised that people cast mending on alesia. i used to do that too. she dies way too easily and has the AI of a pig...

It would have been a better choice. But it's not available until Maguuma Jungle. It was my first time through the game (and back then I was scared of PvP... what if I die and drop everything that's in my backpack?), so I couldn't unlock it.

Actually... You learn something from everything. What I learned at Gates of Kryta was that every skill in the game, no matter how lame, has a use. The use for Mending is 55 monking and getting Alesia through that mission. It's not much, but it's something.

I decided at the start not to have my warrior ran for armor / faster levelling. I thought it would kill the newbie feel too fast.
I have now got to Lion's Arch...toddled across to Cantha and Elona. This weekend I blitzed Tyria with come friends and got to Droknar's Forge (the long way - Kryta - Jungle - Desert). So glad I finally have SOME of my extra attribute points. Jeez...I hate having to wait so long for them here.
I am also now W/P...I always intended to be that. I find Remedy Signet useful and, in the Desert, Hexbraker Aria (yes it's Leadership...but it's not affected by attribute points). I meant to try "Can't Touch This!" but forgot >.<
Thanks for all the help guys.
Oh, as for the Gates of Kryta. I got so annoyed with it I had a lvl 20 friend with 2 lvl 20 heroes to help me out. Needless to say we DIDN'T take Alesia... Dunkoro ftw.

Personally, I prefer Dreadnought's armor. using the calculator on GWGuru' homepage I found 10 extra armor reduces damage from a meteor by about 10. 30 damage from the shower >=D
As for hammers, they're great weapons except that 16 armor reduces damage by about 1/4
